The $500 Bracelet Event ended after I shoved with the nut flush draw. The flush, however, declined to participate in the hand.
Every poker player knows the feeling.
You flop the nut flush draw.
Your heart rate increases.
Your confidence increases.
Your ability to make rational decisions decreases.
That was my situation during the $500 Bracelet Event.
I looked down, saw the nut flush draw, and immediately began calculating all the ways I could win the hand.
The poker brain said:
"You have plenty of outs."
The ATMwithNoPIN™ brain said:
"Send it."
So I did.
All the chips went into the middle.
The dealer ran the board.
Turn?
Miss.
River?
Also miss.
The nut flush draw has once again proven that while it contains the word "nut," it is not actually a made hand.
Moments later I was collecting my belongings and heading toward the exit.
Lessons Learned:
Hope is not a poker strategy.
The nut flush draw is not the nut flush.
The ATMwithNoPIN™ brand remains undefeated in creating entertaining tournament exits.
I'll be back for the next event.
And yes, I'll probably shove another draw.
