After a string of tournament bust-outs, I finally made a deep WSOP run, finished 8th for $45,703, and even made PokerNews wearing my ATMwithNoPIN hat. A reminder that poker is a roller coaster—and sometimes the ATM finally pays out.
From ATM with No PIN... to ATM with $45,703
For the past few weeks, I've been donating chips to the poker community like it was a charitable organization.
Monster Stack? Busted.
Bracelet event? Busted.
Circuit event? Also busted.
At one point I was convinced the dealers were just using my chips to make the stacks look prettier.
Then something strange happened...
I stopped busting.
I survived Day 1.
Then Day 2.
Then Day 3.
People actually started asking me how many chips I had instead of, "So... what are you playing next?"
Even PokerNews decided I was worth writing about.
Unfortunately, they only interviewed me after I was eliminated.
The final hand?
I had K♦Q♠ against 10♥10♦.
I shoved.
He called.
The poker gods looked down, shrugged, and produced exactly zero kings and zero queens.
Standard procedure.
Still...
8th place.
$45,703.
Not exactly the bracelet, but definitely enough to convince myself I'm a world-class player... at least until the next tournament starts.
The best part?
My ATMwithNoPIN hat made it into the PokerNews photos.
Mission accomplished.
People always ask what ATMwithNoPIN means.
Simple.
Sometimes you withdraw money from poker.
Sometimes poker withdraws money from you.
This week...
The ATM actually paid out.
See you at the Main Event.
Let's see if we can make the ATM dispense six figures next time.
